McCleary, Wash. — Ryan Villopoto and Riding Racing Youth Development, LLC (RRYD), promoter of the Ryan Villopoto Amateur Motocross Cup (RV Cup) have reached an agreement to change venue location and date. The 2nd Annual Ryan Villopoto Amateur Motocross Cup, presented by Alpinestars, will be hosted at Grays Harbor Off Road Vehicle Park (GHORV) from August 22-25, 2019.
Grays Harbor ORV and the county of with Ryan Villopoto’s backing starting in 2017 with track owner/promoter Brent Davis. Located in the Capital State Forest, the 155-acre facility is 18 miles west of Olympia, Washington, and Puget Sound. From downtown Seattle, GHORV is a one-and-a-half hour drive southwest. The facility offers a limited number of electrical hookups with water and over 400 dedicated dry campsites. With two full restrooms with showers, an announcer’s tower, and seating for 2500 patrons, the facility is ready to host an event such as the RV Amateur Cup.
“Our team at Grays Harbor is ready for a large event now” Ryan Villopoto said. “We tried to maintain the event in SoCal, but with the cost of operating during a time when the employees of the motorcycle industry are all on vacation, it only made sense to come to my home. Now the same riders can come to the great northwest once per year before most kids are back in school.”
Brent Davis, Managing Director of Pacific Northwest MX LLC, said, “We are working with RRYD to bring some valuable promotions to Washington and our neighboring states. Tom Shields is a proven manager of local and large events, so we are excited to hear what he wants to do up here.”
“This is a natural move to host the RV Cup at Gray Harbor ORV for the riders” Tom Shields, managing director of RRYD, said. “Grays Harbor is so beautiful, it is like having a 360-degree postcard. Now the California riders have a reason to come north to compete at a new track once per year. The RV Cup highlights youth classes, and we will work to offer young riders a new platform to compete at.”
The Ryan Villopoto Amateur Motocross Cup is unique in that its classes are structured after UIL Little League baseball age groups. This places only two years difference in age groups in every class of 51cc, 65cc and 85cc bikes. Other things that make the RV Cup organic is timed practice for first moto gate pick and longer motos. Classes are limited to the first 42 entries in each class.
