  • Metal Mulisha's Brian Deegan Signs with Makita

La Mirada, CA – Brian Deegan, Metal Mulisha founder, twelve-time X-Games medalist and full-time action sports icon, has signed with Makita Industrial Power Tools.

Makita, with its ongoing presence in racing and action sports both as a sponsor and as the tool of choice in the pits, becomes the Official Power Tool for Brian Deegan as he pursues his fierce passion to win in motor sports racing, including off road, freestyle motocross, and rally car.
"I have always relied on Makita to keep me at the top of my game both in the pits and at home, I'm excited to now officially be in the trenches together for every race" states Brian.

“We’ve been supporting ‘The General’ in off road racing since 2008, so we know all about Brian’s relentless competitive drive and the pure energy he brings to action sports,” said Brent Withey, Director of Marketing, Makita. “For Brian, second place is never an option, and because of his drive to win he wants the best of the best. So when Brian puts on his helmet – whether it’s dirt or asphalt, two wheels or four wheels – Makita Tools will be there with him all the way.”

Brian’s accomplishments span a full range of action sports:
•    12-Time X Games Medalist
•    3-Time X Games Gold Medalist, Moto X
•    Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Pro Lite Unlimited Champion and Driver of the Year
•    125 Supercross Race Winner
•    ESPY Award Nominee
•    ESPN Top 100 Athletes of Action Sports

The 2011 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series launches on Saturday in Phoenix, AZ and Brian Deegan will be donating his Pro 2 Class prize winnings to charity, with the Loma Linda Children’s Cancer Ward as the beneficiary of this weekend’s race.

“This is a big step in our growing commitment to racing and the fans who love the sport,” said Withey. “Whether it’s off road, freestyle motocross or supercross, all you have to do is look in the parking lot – it’s all about lifted trucks with tool boxes in the back. That’s our customer, the one with a tool in his hand all week and a hand on the throttle all weekend. Our partnership with Brian Deegan is an awesome opportunity for fans to experience Makita’s leading innovation.”

Makita’s Accelerated Presence in Racing and Action Sports
The partnership with Brian Deegan is the latest in Makita’s growing presence in racing and action sports, both as a sponsor and as a power tool of choice in the pits. Makita and Suzuki’s long term partnership has yielded over 20 championships in Supercross, Motocross, Superbike, ATV, and Amateur – including Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey’s historic 2010 championship run in Supercross and Motocross. Makita is also a sponsor of the Rockstar Makita LeDuc Racing Team in off road racing, as well as the Scheuring Speed Sports Makita Tools Snocross Team.
