Jeffrey Herlings Named to Netherlands MXoN Team; Russia Announces Squad
For the first time since 2012, when he led the Netherlands to a fourth overall finish in Lommel, Jeffrey Herlings will represent the Dutch at the Motocross of Nations. It was announced today that Herlings will ride the Open Class in Maggiora, Italy, on September 25.
Due to injuries, Herlings has been absent from the team since his brilliant 1-2 performance in Belgium, when the Netherlands finished just five points back of the United States for the final podium spot.
Herlings has missed the last three rounds of the FIM World Motocross Championship due to a broken collarbone, but is expected to return for his home GP this weekend in Assen.
Returning from last year’s sixth place team will be Glenn Coldenhoff (MXGP) and Brian Bogers (MX2). Coldenhoff is currently eighth in the MXGP Class in the FIM World Motocross Championship while Bogers is tenth in MX2.
Russia also announced their team today and will feature Evgeny Bobryshev in Open, Aleksandr Tonkov in MXGP and Vsevolod Brylyakov in MX2.
Both Tonkov and Brylyakov has both missed the last three rounds of the FIM World Motocross Championship due to injuries but are expected to be healthy in time for the ‘Nations.
