Brett Cue is recovering from multiple injuries, according to a post on Dayton Daft’s Instagram account (Dayton is the videographer behind all the Brett Cue videos).
Posted yesterday, Daft said that Cue sustained a “cracked rib, partial collapsed lung” and was “KO’d for almost 5 minutes” after his crash on Sunday in the Best Whip competition at X Games Austin.
Daft also said that Cue was “waiting on results from his shoulder,” which was hurting Cue.
In his first X Games appearance, Cue mistimed a whip in Round One of the competition and crashed hard to the ground. He was attended to by medical personal and taken off on a stretcher and transported to the local hospital.
Yesterday, Daft said that Cue was “doing better.” We will update Cue’s condition as more information becomes available.
Jarryd McNeil won his second straight gold medal in Best Whip. X Games rookie Axell Hodges took silver with Spain's Edgar Torronteras capturing bronze in the fan-judged competition.

Cue announced on his Instagram page today that he has been released from the hospital:
Well, @xgames didn't go quite like I had hoped. I struggled all day with my riding and was pretty bummed on myself. Coming into the qualifier, we didn't get any warm ups. We lined up, did the introductions and went straight into jumping. I started feeling a bit better pretty quick, but then, a slight mistake turned into 5 minutes with the lights out.
I was just released from the hospital in Austin to head back home to recover. I have a broken shoulder blade, punctured lung, broken thumb, cracked ribs and am still spitting up blood.
I really really really want to thank you guys for all your support. I wanted nothing more than to go out and show you guys what I can do, but there's always next year! I can't thank @xgames enough for the invite as well as everyone for the texts, calls, tweets, comments and people such as @tomparsons930 @mikikeller @samzielinski @ericperonnard @candi712 @jarrod42 @daytondaft @chelseadanielle @alecgaut and everyone else who came up to see me at the hospital.
You all are the real reason I love this sport so much! I'll be back soon and better than ever!
