Barn Pros Racing/Home Depot Yamaha and Austin Politelli have agreed to a deal for the 2016 season, the team announced. The 21-year-old from Menifee, California, finished twenty-first overall in the 250SX West Region in 2015 with 51Fifty Yamaha. He recorded a season high fourteenth at Anaheim II.
Politelli rode one round for the Washington based team at the Washougal National this year, finishing thirty-seventh in the 450 Class.
“We had a chance to work with Austin during the Washougal National, he flew up and with only four days on a nearly stock 450 he raced the Thursday Night MX event that was heavily stacked running out front for most of his qualifier, then battled from a near dead last start to inside the top 10, said team manager Scott Steffy. “At Washougal, he ran strong in moto 1, running as high as eighteenth and in moto 2 as well, he really impressed us with his ability to ride the bike regardless of how stock it was. We couldn’t be more excited for Austin and the Barn Pros Team.”
Politelli will ride the 250 Class and joins Cole Martinez on the team, with a third rider still to be announced.
