Another weekend means another night of Monster Energy Supercross, this time taking place in San Diego on a beautiful sunny day. Lots of storylines to follow tonight. Dean Wilson needs to stack up another win to stay in the championship hunt, while Cole Seely and Jason Anderson, who are tied in points for the Western Regional 250SX Championship lead, are both looking to head into the break wearing the red number plate. Speaking of points leads, Chad Reed, who is fresh off a win at A3 and has an incredible record of stacking wins here in Qualcomm Stadium, will take the 450SX points lead no matter what happens behind him if he can take the win tonight. Phil Nicoletti will be racing tonight in place of Josh Grant for the JGR Toyota Yamaha team.
Thanks to some rain earlier in the week, the track has a few wet spots but nothing major. The track itself is interesting. It has a split lane section, a pair of dragon’s backs (not next to each other like in Oakland) and a relatively short whoop section. Don’t worry, what the whoops lack in length they make up in size. Yep.
Kevin Windham went out and practiced his transfer jumps this morning for the opening ceremonies, and let’s just say that if you’re going to be in attendance tonight you’re in for big one. Be sure to follow us on Twitter (@racerxonline) and check back here often to follow the action, all day long.
