TiLUBE Racing's Race Report: Vegas
May 12, 2011, 9:45am
Advance, NC- The TiLUBE Racing Team wrapped up a challenging 2011 season at the final round of the Monster Energy Supercross in Las Vegas, Nevada in front of a sold out audience of over 39,000 fans at the Sam Boyd Stadium. The team was tested throughout the season with multiple rider injuries during the seventeen rounds but nothing could stop their determination to finish what they started.
The TiLUBE Racing team backed by Foremost Insurance had bigger expectations for the Las Vegas round but a first lap crash in the main event ended any hopes of a strong finish for Kiniry. The track was dry and slick and Kiniry and another rider got tangled up in the whoops section. Kiniry's bike cart wheeled a few times and was too damaged for him to complete the race. He headed back to the pits and ended up with a 20th overall since he did complete one lap before the crash.
The day started out with Robert Kiniry qualifying in 19th with his lap time of 1.05.863 seconds and Cole Siebler qualifying in 25th with his time of 1.07.211 seconds.
Robert Kiniry (#62) transferred directly from his heat to the main event with his 9th place finish. Cole Siebler (#171) did not qualify for the main event with an 11th place finish in the same heat race. Despite a heroic effort in the Last Chance Qualifer, Siebler's finish of 6th overall would not be enough to get him into the main event.
"Well we certainly had our share of challenges this season. The primary challenge was keeping healthy riders on bikes in one of the most competitive supercross seasons ever. We managed to do that and I want to thank all the riders for their amazing efforts this season. In all we worked with six riders - Matt Boni, Matt Goerke, Manuel Rivas, Cody Gilmore, Robert Kiniry and Cole Siebler. I also want to thank TiLUBE, Foremost Insurance and Babbitts Online for their total support. Without them we would not have been able to compete at the level we did and make all the rounds. 2011 is in the books and we are already planning to come back next season even stronger,"commented Tony Wenck, TiLUBE Racing team manager.
After seventeen rounds of the 2011 Monster Energy Supercross Series the TiLUBE Racing team ended up with four riders in the final overall standings with Matt Boni in 21st place, Robert Kiniry in 30th place, Matt Goerke in 32nd place and Cole Siebler in 35th place overall.
