Star Racing Supercross Round 13 Race Report
Audette came out in Heat #1 sitting in 2nd; entering turn two a forced pass combined with falling competitor led to him crashing. Meanwhile, Sipes also started well and made a move into the lead by lap two. From there, pure speed catapulted him out ahead to a ten second lead and eventual win. Slated into the LCQ, Audette took his Yamaha to a finishing spot of 1st, and in the process he honed his lines on the slick track for the final.
With the gate dropping for the Main Event, Sipes made it through the first turn unscathed holding 2nd as he exited, while Audette darted around the outside and it looked as if the holeshot might be his. However, he was shut out from the inside, pushing him to the rear of the field in 14th. Riding a step above the rest, Sipes on the second lap moved into the 1st position and established himself as the rider to beat for three laps, until an error in a rhythm section led to #25 filing into 2nd place. Riding strong as he had all day, he made strides to gain back time on the leader, but a small mental lapse caused Ryan to hit some tuff blocks exiting a turn and crash in a heap. Forging forward within the first half of the race, Audette was sitting 10th with plenty of time to improve. Sadly the team’s title contender Sipes remounted, but gave way to having the wind knocked out of him and pulled off, eventually finishing out 17th. The ever progressing, Star rider Audette rode the wheels of his YZ 250F hard with only a few laps to go, vying to obtain 8th, doing just that he would go on to finish there for a strong performance.
