Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Wilson Impresses with Third Win of the Season
CORONA, Calif.- Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Dean Wilson took his third win of the season at the seventh round of the AMA Supercross Lites Eastern Region at Cowboys Stadium just outside Dallas, Texas. Currently holding the most wins in the series, Wilson moved three points closer to the leader in the championship standings. Teammate Blake Baggett worked his way through the field to finish seventh during the 15-lap main event.
Wilson’s hot streak continued at Cowboys Stadium, earning his second-consecutive victory on his Pro Circuit-backed Kawasaki KX™250F. After a third-place start, Wilson was able to chase down the leader and make the pass before the final lap.
“It was an exciting race,” said Wilson. “The track was very demanding, especially in the whoops. They were really big and you really had to power through them to get out clean. The fans were awesome when we were battling and it really helped me give a final push at the end.”
Starting off the night right, Baggett showed speed with a sizeable win in his heat race. With that confidence, Baggett lined up for the main, but a tough start pushed him outside the top-10. He made good passes on the tough track and tried to keep his mistakes to a minimum, eventually finishing the night in seventh.
“Tonight was a bummer because I felt good and it obviously showed in my heat race,” said Baggett. “It’s always hard when your results don’t show the effort you put in, but I know a podium is close. Next weekend I’ll be pushing harder and taking more chances to try and get back up there.”
The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki East Coast riders head to Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, Mo. for the penultimate round of the AMA Supercross Lites, Eastern Region series. Wilson currently sits in second in the championship standings with 147 points, while teammate Baggett is fourth with 114 points.
