  • Cole Seely Down, But Not Out, in Dallas
Arlington, TX- Cole Seely put his last laps in this weekend as a replacement rider for the injured Josh Grant. Things were looking great at the beginning of the day as Cole qualified well and posted his best heat race finish so far. But in the main event things went sideways quickly.

Cole has been getting more comfortable on the Factory Honda 450 and it shows. His times in qualifying have been consistently in the top ten and improving every weekend. And in the heat race on Saturday Seely put in an awesome ride for third. It was his best heat race finish yet and as the main event approached he was confident that he could sneak the number 36 bike into the top five.

Starts have been a big hurdle for Cole but he made improvements each week and in Dallas the hard work was paying off. He rounded the first turn in seventh and had the lead group in his sights. It was the start and the opportunity Cole had been waiting for. But on the opening laps Cole was clipped by another rider in the treacherous whoop section and thrown to the ground. He was attended to by the Asterisk crew and eventually headed back to the pits. His night was over. While it was a disappointing result, Cole was happy that he was not injured seriously in the crash. He has some road rash and a sore hip from the impact but nothing that won't feel better in a week or so.

"I was really feeling it today," said Cole after the race. "I finally had my starts coming around and I was flowing good on this track. I'm not sure who I tangled with in the whoops but it threw me to the ground pretty hard. I'm just glad I was okay after that. I wish I could have finished that main event because I think I could have done well. I really want to thank American Honda and my Troy Lee Designs/ Lucas Oil/ Honda team for giving me this opportunity. It's been such a great experience and the guys at Honda are great. I'm looking forward to getting back on my 250 and going to work up in Seattle in a few weeks."

Cole will spend a week dialing in his outdoor motocross settings and then return to the supercross test tracks to ready himself for the final three rounds of the west region supercross series. Cole will be rejoined by his teammates at those rounds as well.
