Suzuki’s Tedesco Looking to Follow Up Successful Rookie Season in Toronto
AURORA, Ill. (November 28, 2006) – Suzuki’s Ivan Tedesco is looking to repeat the success he experienced in Canada a year ago when the Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP kicks off at the Rogers Centre in Toronto this Saturday, Dec. 2.
In 2005, Tedesco used a pair of fourth place finishes in Toronto and Vancouver to set the tone for a solid rookie season in the premier class that earned him fourth in the final Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP standings. Tedesco was a model of consistency the entire season, posting 11 top five finishes, including a second place finish at St. Louis.
“I’m looking forward to getting back out on the supercross track and improving on what I accomplished last season,” said Tedesco, who missed the entire AMA Motocross season with an injured shoulder suffered in May. “My shoulder’s fine, and I’m having a really good off season of riding and training. I’ve really been fortunate to be able to ride with Ricky (Carmichael) at the Suzuki track and I think that will really pay off once we get into competition.”
Tedesco’s off-season preparation has been geared toward the Dec. 2 showdown in Toronto where he’ll face Kawasaki’s James Stewart and Yamaha’s Chad Reed, former world champions who are considered series front runners. Carmichael, the defending Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series champion, will also be competing in Toronto and round two in Vancouver the following week as part of his select-race schedule.
