The first off-season supercross championship got underway with the Australian SX Championship over the weekend. The first two rounds of the championship took place on back-to-back nights at Kayo Stadium in Redcliffe, and it was U.S.-based SMX riders Lux Turner winning the SX2 class (250cc) both nights with Dean Wilson winning the SX1 (450cc) both nights. This was Turner’s first professional win, which he backed up the second night. Shane McElrath, who won the SX2 class title in 2024, had early race crashes on both nights, hindering his results.

For Wilson, the day two win came hours after his mom passed away following a battle with cancer. Condolences to the Wilson family.

The following press releases are from the AUSX Supercross Championship:

Day 1: MEDIA RELEASE | VNR : WILSON STRIKES FIRST AS SX1 FIREWORKS IGNITE THE 2025 AUSX SEASON OPENER

Redcliffe, QLD - Round 1 of the 2025 Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship presented by Monster Energy roared into life at Kayo Stadium, Redcliffe, with sell-out crowds and non-stop action setting the tone for an epic double-header weekend.

Yamaha SX1 – Dean Wilson Delivers

The SX1 final was chaos from the start, but Dean Wilson Quadlock Honda, emerged victorious, charging from outside the top five to storm past Luke Clout (Penrite Empire Kawasaki) on lap four and check out from the field. Clout held strong for second, while Cedric Soubeyras (Boost Mobile Honda Racing) claimed third after a fierce mid-race battle that had elbows flying and tempers flaring.

DEWALT SX2 –Lux Turner Charges to Victory for Yamalube Yamaha

Drama unfolded in the SX2 finals from the first corner, with Shane McElrath (Quad Lock Honda Racing)  and Olander tangled up and out early. But Lux Turner (Monster Energy Yamalube Yamaha) charged through the pack to take the win, ahead of Alex Larwood in second and Wilson Todd in third. American import McElrath showed impressive pace before the early crash ended his night.

SX3 – Kingsford in a Class of His Own

It was a flag-to-flag masterclass from Kade Kingsford, who led every lap to take a commanding win. Ryder Malanovski and Jett Alsop finished second and third after an intense three-way scrap that had the crowd on their feet.

KTM 85cc Futures – Young Gun Bohannan Shines

The next generation of Supercross talent lit up the stadium as Blake Bohannan — the youngest in the class and fresh off the 65cc ranks — claimed an emotional win, showing poise, pace, and composure to take the top step on the podium.

With sell-out crowds, high drama, and world-class racing, the 2025 Championship is officially underway. All eyes now turn to Round 2 tomorrow, as the riders return under lights at Kayo Stadium for another night of Supercross mayhem.

AUSX AMBASSADOR – REECE WALSH MEETS THE FANS

Superstar Reece Walsh, the official AUSX Ambassador, was on hand throughout the day to meet young fans and share his passion for the sport. Walsh led an exclusive kids’ track walk, posed for photos, signed memorabilia, and inspired the next generation of Supercross riders with tips and encouragement.

Day 2: WILSON’S EMOTIONAL TRIUMPH AND YAMAHA'S Lux Turner CLEAN SWEEP REDCLIFFE DOUBLE HEADER

Determination, redemption, and class headline the opening weekend of the 2025 Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship presented by Monster Energy.

Redcliffe, QLD – Round 2 of the Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship presented by Monster Energy capped off an unforgettable double-header at Kayo Stadium, where emotion, aggression, and world-class racing lit up Moreton Bay.

YAMAHA SX1 – Wilson’s Determination Shines in Emotional Triumph

It was a weekend of dominance and heart from Scotsman Dean Wilson (Quad Lock Honda Racing), who backed up his Round 1 victory with another commanding performance in Redcliffe.

In Final 1, Luke Clout (Penrite Empire Kawasaki) was caught in a first-turn tangle that saw his footpeg fall off mid race, ending his race early. From there, Wilson controlled the pace, showing poise and precision under pressure.

Cedric Soubeyras (Boost Mobile Honda Racing) from France chased hard to second, with Hayden Mellross (Mellross Homes Motorsport) rounding out the podium after a consistent showing across both finals.

But the night belonged to Wilson — racing with emotion and determination as he dedicated the win to his mother, who passed this morning.

“This one means a lot,” said Wilson, visibly emotional on the podium. “It’s been a tough week, but I just wanted to ride strong and do it for my family. Huge thanks to the fans — you guys lifted me all night.”

DEWALT SX2 – Turner Extends His Streak for Yamalube Yamaha

The SX2 class brought intensity from the first gate drop, with early crashes claiming Wilson Todd, Jack Burn, and Shane McElrath, forcing all three to claw back from deep in the field.

Meanwhile, American Lux Turner (Yamalube Yamaha Racing) once again stole the spotlight, dominating both finals to secure back-to-back victories and strengthen his championship lead.

Wilson Todd (Berry Sweet Honda) recovered brilliantly to finish second overall, while Kaleb Barham delivered another consistent performance for third.

In the final showdown, Turner completed a perfect weekend sweep ahead of Alex Larwood (Honda Racing) and Jake Cannon (Penrite Empire Kawasaki).

“The team gave me an incredible bike this weekend,” said Turner. “The track was technical, the pressure was high, but I just focused on executing every lap. It’s unreal to come away with two wins to start the season.”

SX3 – Kingsford Untouchable as Honda Sweeps Again

Kayd Kingsford (Honda) continued his red-hot form in SX3, leading every lap to take another dominant win ahead of Jack Deveson and Hayden Downie. Kingsford has been in a class of his own through the opening rounds, setting the early benchmark for the championship.

“I just tried to stay smooth and out front,” said Kingsford. “The whole Honda team has been amazing all weekend. Couldn’t ask for a better start to the season.”

Huge Crowds and Supercross Spirit in Full Force

Across two massive nights at Kayo Stadium, fans packed the stands for world class racing that delivered emotion, chaos, and redemption stories in spades.

AUSX Co-Founder Adam Bailey said the Moreton Bay double-header set a new benchmark for the series:

“This weekend captured everything Supercross is about — heart, rivalry, and world-class entertainment. Moreton Bay showed up in force, and the riders absolutely delivered.”

The 2025 Boost Mobile AUSX Championship presented by Monster Energy now heads south to Sharks Stadium, Cronulla for Round 3, where momentum, redemption, and championship pressure will collide.
