The Honda CRF250R is the most improved 250 motocross bike of 2025, but we wanted to try to get a little more engine performance out of Honda’s 250 power plant in stages, so we enlisted Team MCR’s engine builder Chad Braun from XPR Motorsports to help us do just that. However, instead of just dumping all this money into a machine at one time, we decided to do this in stages. Stage Two consists of a dual-injected XPR system that is all the rage right now within the professional 250cc paddock. A dual injector is commonplace for factory bikes, so we thought, why not make that our second test on “this mini race build?” Stage One was a high-compression piston, Vortex ECU, head work, a re-valved set of REP suspension, an Akrapovic muffler system, and just a small amount of goodies sprinkled across the Honda platform. This complete build is still meant to be reliable and not so expensive, so it will not break the bank.
