Jalek Swoll, Michael Mosiman, Pierce Brown Updates After Ironman National

Jalek Swoll, Michael Mosiman, and Pierce Brown all had at least one DNF on Saturday at the Ironman National. The ninth round of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship greeted riders with a hot and humid day of racing on a tough and technical track. Here are some updates on the trio.
Jalek Swoll
Swoll pulled off in the second qualifying session after tweaking his leg but lined up for the motos. In the first moto, he got an excellent start and was running in a podium position for the first half of the moto, although he would get passed a handful of times as the race progressed. The #22 machine would finish tenth. However, pulled off after only one lap in the second moto after a collision with another rider. He scored 10-39 finishes for 16th overall.
The post-race release from Triumph said the following:
“Jalek Swoll had an issue in the second qualification session that left him with a suspected muscle injury. Despite salvaging a 10th in moto one, he was forced to retire after a collision on lap one of moto two. Swoll will undergo medical evaluation on Monday to investigate the root of the pain that he experienced at Ironman and determine his status for the rest of the 2025 season.”
Swoll's post-race quote:
"The day started well, but injuries suck. That ruined the day for me. It has been an uphill battle, after tweaking my leg in practice. I honestly did all that I could. Racing injured was tougher than I thought, however, so now I want to get healthy."
Jeremy Coker – General Manager, Triumph Racing America
"This was a tough event. The team worked hard to get Jalek and Austin feeling good, after mishaps in the second timed session. Jalek had a superb start in moto one but slipped backwards due to pain and eventually retired from moto two. We will evaluate his health once back at our base."
As for Forkner, mentioned above, he dabbed his leg in qualifying and experienced some pain early in the day, but he was happy with strong laps late in both motos.
Michael Mosiman
Mosiman suffered ankle injury during qualifying at the Washougal National and he tried to give it a go this weekend after resting and recovering during the break. Mosiman had two great starts, riding home 12th in the first moto. In the second moto, Mosiman got bucked off his bike in the second turn while near the very front of the field. He tweaked his leg, per the Yamaha post-race press release, which resulting in him pulling off after one lap. Mosiman finished 12-40 for 18th overall.
Mosiman’s post-race quote read:
“It was a tough day. We had two days on the bike after taking almost a month off for this ankle. I was able to ride fairly well in the first moto, but the second and third turn was my nemesis today. I had a great start in the first one, but made a mistake early on. Then in Moto 2, it was the same thing. I had a great start, and then made a mistake, and I tweaked my ankle that was bothering me. I did one lap, but I was not myself out there, and I decided to pull in and get ready for next weekend. It’s really unfortunate, but these mistakes are fixable. I know what needs to happen, and there are a lot of positives to take away. I still have great pace and great starts. We’ll be back next round.”
Pierce Brown
Brown made just his second start of the season on Saturday. He fractured his T5 vertebra in the Tampa SX 250SX East Division opener back in February. In Indiana, he suffered a crash early on in the first moto, which ended his day early as he sat out moto two. His 36-DNS landed 42nd overall on the day. He posted on social media he will undergo tests this week.
The post-race release from Yamaha said the following:
“Brown had a strong start to his first race back and was ninth in the combined times. In Moto 1, he found himself 24th on the opening lap, and then unfortunately had a big crash around the halfway mark, ending his day early. Feeling beat up from the crash, Brown sat out of Moto 2 as a precaution and will seek further evaluation after the weekend. An update on his status will follow at a later time.”
Wil Hahn – Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing 250 Team General Manager said the following in the post-race release:
“Mosi (Michael Mosiman) got off to a great start in Moto 2 before ultimately falling and having to retire early. It was the first race back for Dax since Supercross, and now he knows what he needs to work on this week for Unadilla. Unfortunately, Pierce had a big crash in the first moto. He will get looked at this week and will see how the week goes, and hopefully see him at Unadilla.”
Brown's post-race PR quote:
“The day started off well, and we had a good qualifying. Unfortunately, I got cross-jumped and hit the deck in Moto 1, and sat out of the second moto as a precaution. I woke up pretty sore this morning, so we’ll get some scans early this week to make sure the body is all good. We haven’t had a lack of adversity this year, but the goal hasn’t changed.”
Brown posted on his Instagram:
“Warm welcome back to racing yesterday💀 started the day off good in qualy then unfortunately got cross jumped and hit the deck in moto 1 and sat out moto 2 for precaution. Sore this morning so we’ll get some scans early this week to make sure the body is all good. We haven’t had a lack of adversity this year but the goal hasn’t changed still business as usual.
