All Four Triumphs Land in Top Ten at Spring Creek; Jalek Swoll Notes Injury: “I’ve been riding through a torn UCL in my thumb”

Whether the results have been there or not, Triumph Racing has continued to take a step forward in the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX). Over the weekend, the step was visible, with all four riders landing in the top ten overall: Mikkel Haarup fourth; Austin Forkner eighth; Jalek Swoll ninth; and Jordon Smith tenth. Even though the fifth rider—Stilez Robertson—has not been racing due to a wrist injury, Swoll said after his RedBud National podium that Robertson was testing for him since he was unable to ride during the week. Now, as you will read below, Swoll notes a thumb injury he has been riding through. It was the best showing of the summer for the Triumph team.
"Another weekend in the correct direction,” said Jeremy Coker, General Manager for Triumph Racing America, in a press release. “To have all four riders in the top 10 is very hard to achieve, especially with Jalek carrying an injury. Our plan is to have all four inside of the top five. All of us on the team will continue to work our butts off."
Mikkel Haarup
"Another great weekend! I felt good on the track all day. I had two solid starts – my intensity was very good early on. I was fourth in moto one and third in moto two, which I'm very proud of. I want to give a shoutout to the Triumph Factory Racing team – they have kept working hard and helped me perform at my best. We will put our heads down and keep looking forward."
Austin Forkner
"This was a big improvement! That is the best that I have qualified this year, then I had two better starts in the motos. I lost a couple of positions early in moto one – I lacked the intensity – but I still ended up in ninth. I was 11th in the second one and that put me eighth overall. My riding was better all day and I felt comfortable. This is a step in the right direction and I have nothing to complain about!"
Jalek Swoll
"It was an okay day, I guess. The first moto could have been better – I have good speed! I have to put myself in a position to capitalise on that. I fell in that one as well, so it just was not ideal. I had a good start in the second moto and was the fastest man at points. I plateaued towards the end and that stopped me going forward, but I was still fifth. I should be in the top five every moto."
Jordon Smith
"I am getting better every weekend! The team has put in so much work – we are moving in the right direction. I have had some great starts recently and been able to see the pace at the front. That is a credit to the team's hard work. I felt solid when I crashed in the first moto, but I rebounded well in the second moto."
Swoll went into more detail in an Instagram post. He is already working back to full fitness following his Achilles tendon injury in the pre-season, so now he has to push through this thumb injury as well. Last weekend in Michigan his hand was taped up, although he did not go into detail. This explains the tape job.
“Rode like a little 🐱in moto 1 and had a tip over for p16 in moto 1, pulled it together in moto 2 ran 4th all moto and got passed last lap which put me P5 for moto 2 …. My riding is much better than the overall result but it is what it is I’ve been riding through a torn UCL in my thumb so it’s been tough not practicing during the week and just showing up and racing through the pain but running up front with the cards I’m dealt is only building the confidence and I fully believe I can knock off some more podiums so will keep digging 🐕🐕🐕 16-5 for 9th thanks team @officialtriumphracing”
