On Saturday, the third and playoff round of the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) took over The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Sin City delivered some exciting racing as the paddock returned to Las Vegas for the first time since 2019.
Pierce Brown (GasGas) took 2-1 finishes in the motos to earn his first professional race win as Haiden Deegan (Yamaha) finished 1-2 for second overall and Jordon Smith (Yamaha) finished 5-3 for third overall. Deegan claimed the 2024 250SMX World Championship as he is now the back-to-back 250SMX champion. Brown’s win also jumped him to third overall in the 250SMX championship standings behind Deegan and Vialle.
In the 450SMX Class, it was Jett Lawrence’s day as the Honda HRC Progressive rider earned the overall win with 1-1 moto finishes as he claimed the 2024 450SMX title, going back-to-back as well. Hunter Lawrence (Honda) finished 3-2 for second overall and although he tied with Jett on SMX championship points, Jett won from the tie breaker. Eli Tomac (Yamaha) rounded out the overall podium with 2-3 finishes.
Chase Sexton (KTM), who entered the day second in the three-way winner-takes-all battle for the title, was unable to finish the first moto after a racing incident that saw Justin Barcia accidently land on him on the opening lap. Sexton was unable to lineup for the second moto, and he finished seventh in the championship.
In the 250 World All-Stars race, Cole Davies (Yamaha) took the main event win over Avery Long (Yamaha) and Alex Fedortsov (Yamaha) in an all-BluCru podium.
After the race, the riders spoke to the media during the post-race press conference.
