At the 11th and final round of the 2024 AMA Pro Motocross Championship at Ironman Raceway in Indiana, Chase Sexton just clinched the 450 Class title. Sexton entered the finale up 28 points on Honda HRC’s Hunter Lawrence and after winning the first moto, Sexton mathematically eliminated Lawrence from the championship. He will be presented the 2024 450 Class AMA Motocross #1 plate after the completion of the second moto this afternoon. Update: Sexton went 1-1 to stamp his championship.
The Illinois native earned his second premier class title, his first AMA Motocross title in his first year aboard a Red Bull KTM 450 SX-F. Sexton’s title is also the first AMA Motocross title for KTM since Ryan Dungey won the championship back in 2015.
While Sexton has had an incredible season, picking up 13 moto wins (after today) and seven overall wins this season, it is truly incredible to think about how far he has come in Pro Motocross. In 250SX he showed flashes but in the 250 Class of Pro Motocross he only had five overall podiums and one single moto win to his name before moving to the premier class full-time starting in the 2020 450 Class Pro Motocross Championship. For Sexton to now have 13 450 overall wins, almost two dozen moto wins, and 31 overall podiums truly shows the amount of work he has put in to become one of the top athletes in the sport at the moment.
Congrats, champ!
