Webb Sprains Thumb, Cochran Sliced at Unadilla
Some additional injury news is starting to roll in from the Unadilla National. We've heard from a source at Yamaha that Cooper Webb will be out for this weekend's Budds Creek National due to a sprained thumb. That's actually somewhat good news since Cooper landed on the same thumb that required surgery after Monster Energy AMA Supercross. This latest injury isn't that level of seriousness, thankfully. We're unsure if Webb will be back for the Ironman National next weekend, but he should be on track for the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) Playoffs and Finale, which was his real focus at this point in the season, anyway.
We will await official news from Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing plus we expect them to also announce that Eli Tomac will return to racing this weekend. We also learned today that Tomac will be competing in the FIM WSX Series this fall.

Yamaha confirms Webb will sit out the Budds Creek National:
@monsterenergy @yamahamotorusa Star Racing’s @cooperwebb will sit out this weekend’s @promotocross penultimate round at Budds Creek to focus on returning to full fitness for the @supermotocross World Championship Finals. The multi-time champion sprained his thumb in a crash during Moto 2 at Unadilla and will reevaluate next weekend for Ironman.
It looked grim for Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's Casey Cochran at Unadilla, as the rookie was seen walking off the track holding his arm and wrist in the second moto before being taken off on the medical cart. The team says Casey's arm went into another rider's wheel. Luckily, nothing is broken, but he suffered some deep lacerations to his arm. The Alpinestars medical team stitched him up at the track but it's still not decided if Casey will be able to race this weekend at Budds Creek. We're also awaiting word on RJ Hampshire's status, who is working his way back from a wrist injury suffered at press day for round one of the series.
