Dean Wilson: Full Privateer Shooting for SMX Points at Budds Creek, Ironman

Count Dean Wilson in on the growing list of riders returning for rounds of AMA Pro Motocross Championship in order to sharpen the skills and gain a few more points for the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) playoffs and finale in September. Wilson, who normally rides for Firepower Honda, is coming to Budds Creek and Ironman on his own Honda CRF450R, as the Firepower team does not compete in the full Pro Motocross Championship. Wilson finished 16th overall in the 2024 Monster Energy Supercross Championship. Wilson did compete at the Fox Raceway opener back in May and took 14th overall, as well as Washougal in late July where he took 16th overall. Wilson tried to compete at RedBud when his Firepower team was on hand supporting its visiting Australian racers, but he was suffering from a crash earlier that week and wasn't able to make the motos.

In between all this, Wilson has been competing all over the globe, including multiple events in Brazil.

Wilson's main goal is to make the top 20 in the final combined standings, which would lock him into every SMX moto instead of having to compete in the LCQ at all three rounds first. Right now Wilson is 21st in points, six behind 20th-ranked Kyle Chisholm.
