Surprise Move: Kyle Chisholm Headed to MotoConcepts in the 250 Class
Today, MotoConcepts Racing held their 2017 team intro at the Honda test track. It was expected to include Justin Brayton, Mike Alessi, Vince Friese, and Cameron McAdoo (250 Class), all of whom were named to the team last week.
Well, there was also a surprise rider announced—Kyle Chisholm will race the 250SX West Region with the team in 2017. Chisholm last raced the 250 Class (then called Lites) in 2008, finishing 12th overall in the East Region.
According to the 2017 FIM/AMA Supercross Rulebook, “riders finishing inside the top-20 of the 450SX class points in 2015 or 2016 will not be eligible to ride the 250SX class.”
Both Chisholm and JGRMX’s Phil Nicoletti finished inside the top-20 in points in 2015. Chisholm finished 14th, Nicoletti 19th. Neither rider finished inside the top-20 in 450 points in 2016
We know Nicoletti petitioned the AMA in regards to the rule and won. Apparently, Chisholm has done the same, and also won.
We’ll have more from the MotoConcepts Racing team intro later this week.
