A day after Jordon Smith made his announcement, Alex Martin has also announced he is moving to Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull KTM for 2017.
Martin announced on his Instagram page that he’s signed a two-year deal with the team.
“Really excited to announce I'll be with the TLD Red Bull Factory Ktm team for the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Can't wait to see what we can do on the new bike next year! @tld_moto @ktmusa @redbull @gopro #freshstart #newbeginnings”
Like his brother Jeremy, who already announced his deal with GEICO Honda, Alex is also leaving the Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha team. Alex spent one year with the team after time with CycleTrader.com/Rock River Yamaha and Eleven-10 Mods.
After a slow start in Monster Energy Supercross, Martin really shined in his first year on factory equipment in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. Martin had 14 moto podiums (including two moto wins) en route to second in 250MX points.
His breakout season also secured him a spot on Team USA for the Motocross of Nations, where the team finished third behind France and The Netherlands. It was Martin’s first appearance for Team USA after previously representing Team Puerto Rico twice.
