  • Matt Bisceglia Staying with Yoshimura Suzuki for High Point [Update] - Motocross
Mt. Morris, PA High Point Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship

According to a post on his Instagram page, Matt Bisceglia will continue his fill-in roll with Yoshimura Suzuki this weekend at Round 4 of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship at High Point. The team has yet to make an official announcement.

After parting ways with MAD Racing/Dirt Candy Suzuki prior to Glen Helen despite signing a two-year deal with the new team last off-season, Bisceglia was brought on to the factory Suzuki team for Thunder Valley as both Blake Baggett and James Stewart were out with injury.

In his first career 450 race, the 2013 AMA Horizon Award winner went 10-10 for eight overall.

“I think it maybe even exceeded my expectations a little bit,” Bisceglia told us after the race. “I knew what I was capable of coming in, but I’ve been taking a little bit of time off. With the lack of time I’ve had on this bike, it kind of shows how good their program is over here with how well I was able to do with such short time on the bike.”

The team has yet to announce an official update on the status of Baggett and Stewart for High Point, but Racer X’s Steve Matthes tweeted that Baggett will miss his second consecutive race due to a collarbone injury sustained at Hangtown.

What I'm hearing is JS7 is iffy for High Point but Baggett is out, hence the #getMatttoHighPoint movement working.

We will update this post as we know more.

[Update: June 17]

Yoshimura Suzuki announced that both Blake Baggett and James Stewart are out for High Point this weekend.

“Matt did a great job for us at the last round in Lakewood, Colorado,” said Mike Webb, Yoshimura Suzuki team manager. “James and Blake are close, but not quite ready to return. Fortunately, Matt proved he’s fully capable of being competitive in the 450 class, even though Lakewood was his debut 450 National. Matt will ride with us this weekend and we hope to have James and Blake back by next week in Tennessee.”
