Michael Leib is out for Oakland, and likely the season after a vicious crash during qualifying left him with a suspected broken leg, possibly two. Leib was entering a rhythm section when he went over the bars, ejected and landed hard on the dirt, sans bike. Leib went to the hospital where he’ll undergo further evaluation. We’ll post more as details become available.
[Update]
Leib underwent surgery yesterday to repair his right tib/fib and his right foot, right big toe and left pinky toe. Leib posted the following on Instagram:
Out of surgery from early this morning. Looks like the operation went well. Time to heal up now. Thank you for all the support from everyone. Sorry I've not been on my phone the last few days to respond to anyone, but I've read everyone's messages and I can't say thank you enough for the positivity, prayers and support. #BeLeib61
