  • Cobra Launches New Off-Road Package

HILLSDALE, Mich.  – The American-made Cobra Moto brand, which has won virtually everything in terms of competition mini cycle racing on the premier amateur MX tracks around the world, today recognized its two AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series, presented by Maxxis, champions – Indiana’s Lucas Grounds (65cc) and Pennsylvania’s Nathan Dulaney (50cc). And in the same breath, Cobra Moto would like to announce the launch of the new off-road package on its championship CX models.

First, Cobra Moto is pleased to acknowledge the two young men that got it done this season on the highly competitive GNCC circuit, Lucas & Nathan.

“We couldn’t be more pumped with the effort Lucas and Nathan, along with their families, put up racing the GNCC events over the summer and this fall,” said Sean Hilbert, President of Cobra Moto. “While we’ve enjoyed some success on the off-road circuit in the past, primarily with our quad line, this is the first 50cc and 65cc sweep for the Cobra Moto CX line on the GNCC circuit … and we’re absolutely thrilled.”

Grounds, aboard Cobra Moto’s CX65, was absolutely dominant in the GNCC’s 65cc 7-9 Youth Bike class, winning six of the twelve rounds he contested, making the podium in three of the six rounds he didn’t win and top-five in the other three.

Dulaney was equally dominant, winning five of the six GNCC 50cc Sr. 7-9 class races on his Cobra Moto CX50 SR in the abbreviate season for the little guys, and placed a respectable tenth in the 65cc 7-9 Youth Bike class aboard his Cobra Moto CX65.

So with the rapidly-growing interest in younger racers running GNCC, AMA Hare & Hound, Best in the Desert and other cross country and enduro-style races, Cobra Moto is rolling out a new off-road package for its competition CX line.

Based off the standard American-made, championship-winning CX models, the new Cobra Moto off-road package is designed, built and tested in the most demanding competition venues around the States, including those of the GNCC tour. The added package of features will appeal to the serious off-road racer, turning the MX-friendly Cobra Moto CX65, and 50 into a bike very similar to the adult-size bikes the kids’ dads are running.

Suspension: Both the CX50 and CX65 are outfitted with fully-adjustable CARD suspension dialed for competition off-road racing. Cobra Motos’ renowned CARD forks have fully adjustable rebound and compression damping and bottoming control adjustment not found on any other fork of any size. The CARD rear shock is a piggyback canister model that is fully adjustable for rebound and high and low speed compression.

Engine: The 2015 CX65 has been fitted with a heavier flywheel, making the power delivery smoother, and traction easier to find. Water-cooled crankcases for the CX65 have been redesigned for more consistent intake charge temperatures, resulting in more power over the longer distances. Not only do both Cobra Moto off-road package models offer the largest air box in their class, they also feature the largest air filter. This translates into better breathing and filtration while providing more power and improved throttle response over long, torturous off-road races.

Clutch: The CX50s are equipped with an all new 5GX three shoe clutch. The new bolt, washer, and bolt design, combined with the lightened clutch basket, keep the clutch temperatures a lower levels. This results in a clutch that hits as hard at the end of the race as it does at the start!

Protection: CX65 - Each motorcycle is equipped with Unabiker Dirt Bike Armor that protects the radiator while still keeping the bike cool. An additional Unabiker skid plate protects from the dangers that rise up from below, with the rear-brake rotor being protected by a CARD shark fin. Acerbis hand guards offer stylish looks while holding up to the rigors of the woods. The CX50 receives the Unabiker Dirt Bike Armor to protect the radiator, along with the Acerbis hand guards.
