51FIFTY Energy Drink has signed Austin Politelli, the team announced today. Politelli, 20, will race the 250SX West Region in 2015.
"Austin has looked incredibly fast on the track and we are only in the early stages of our testing," Craig Monty, team manager, said in a press release. "Our team goal is top-five and spending time with Austin, watching his technique, speed through the whoops and knowing the training he's been putting in, we feel confident top fives are within our reach."
The Menifee, California, native suffered a broken femur in January at Milestone and missed all but one round of the 250SX West Region in 2014. Politelli returned to defend his MX2 Canadian Nationals title later in the year, but finished just eighth overall.
"I know my speed is there, I've certainly trained with more intensity and the 51FIFTY team is phenomenal to test and work with as we all want the same goal, top-five at a minimum," Politelli said in a press release.
Politelli, entering his fourth professional season, has six career 250SX top tens.
