IRVINE, Cal. – The Joe Gibb’s Racing team has confirmed that Phil Nicoletti is planning to compete at his first GEICO AMA EnduroCross this coming weekend in Atlanta. Nicoletti, the part time racer and test rider for the JGR MX team, just had a season best eighth overall finish at the Unadilla, New York National on his Yamaha YZ-450F. And now he will attempt a completely different form of dirt bike racing that includes rocks and logs instead of triple jumps and whoop sections.
Nicoletti has been practicing on the EnduroCross track that a few of the JGR team staff built for fun so he has an idea of what he is getting himself into. “I'm excited to experience the sport of EnduroCross. It is getting bigger every year, and I have wanted to try it. The courses are very technical so I want to limit the tip overs and have fun.” Nicoletti said.
The Atlanta round, hosted at Gwinnett Center on Saturday, August 23rd, is the first EnduroCross to visit the East Coast of the U.S. since 2009 and is already attracting several of the top east coast based off-road riders in addition to the EnduroCross regulars.
