Stewart, Hahn Take Yoshimura to the Top

  • Stewart, Hahn Take Yoshimura to the Top

James Stewart came up big this weekend at the largest Monster Energy AMA Supercross event of 2013, taking the holeshot and never looking back in his first 450SX Class race win of the season at Atlanta's Super Dome. GEICO Honda's Wil Hahn took the 250SX Class Main Event podium before 68,987 fans, marking his first career overall Monster Energy AMA Supercross victory.

For the veteran Stewart, the win puts him in the history books as one of only three riders ever to earn a win in nine consecutive AMA Supercross seasons. The win couldn't have come at a better time, Stewart adding that "It [means] a lot; this whole season has been going crazy and to get a victory and to get a start, it was almost a perfect day."

Victory was a little more painful for newcomer Hahn-he shattered his toe in an early heat with GEICO Honda teammate Zach Bell, though pushed through. He said after the race: "They stitched it up in the Asterisk Medical Trailer and I'll need to get it examined again but it looks pretty bad. Still, I wasn't going to let it stop me."

A lot of eyes were also on Eli Tomac, making his 450SX debut Saturday night. The GEICO Honda rider, a familiar face on the 250SX podium for several years, took a solid 7th finish. With a bit more experience under his belt, it won't be long before Tomac is near the front of the 450SX pack.

The Yoshimura riders are hoping their efforts translate into momentum -- and podium spots -- for next weekend's Monster Energy Supercross races in St. Louis at Edward Jones Dome.

RS9 DUAL EXHAUST SYSTEM

The RS-9's parallelogram-shaped muffler body increases muffler volume over the stock system, resulting in better throttle response and improved noise cancellation. Dual setup enables us to position these mufflers closer to the bike's center of gravity (mass centralization) resulting in better handling for the rider. An additional benefit of the mass centralization process is decreasing potential for muffler damage in the event of crash.

RS-9 not only makes more power and torque possible, but does it more quietly than single systems. The uniquely sculpted Carbon Fiber end-caps feature a Tunable Insert System, able to fine-tune power delivery and decibel levels to rider specifications.  AMA Pro and Amateur Sound Legal.
