HOUSTON – Last season, SMS Racing KTM dove into the spotlight and intensity of Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, for the very first time with Shea Racing. The risk paid dividends as the team notched a 10th place finish at the Atlanta round and competed in a total of six main events in front of capacity crowds and international TV audiences. Shea Racing is proud to announce that SMS Racing will return as a team partner. Team PassportWorld.com/Shea Racing/National Switchgear will compete on SMS Racing-prepared KTM 250 SX-F race bikes. SMS Racing proved during the 2012 season that it could develop a competitive and reliable race bike for the ultimate demands of an AMA Supercross course. Coupled with the incredible team graphics supplied by DeCal Works, riders outfitted in FLY Racing gear and exhaust by DRD, this team is sure to be competitive during the upcoming season.

“The entire SMS Racing crew is proud to be a part of the Shea Racing team again for 2013,” said Brian Storrie, owner of Denton, Texas-based SMS Racing. “With the knowledge gained last season and the new 2013 KTM 250 SX-F motor that is 7-hp more stock, we are excited to see how much faster we can make the 2013 SMS motors.”

Shea Racing has participated in the East Region AMA Supercross events since 2009, expanding its team in 2011 with support from National Switchgear. In 2012, SMS Racing came on board to supply the “Ready to Race” KTM 250 SX-F race bikes including suspension and motor modifications.

The team is in the process of finalizing agreements with athletes for the 2013 Monster Energy AMA Supercross 250cc Lites East Region class. Fans can expect an announcement in the near future.

Team PassportWorld.com/Shea Racing/National Switchgear powered by SMS Racing KTM will again travel and pit in a full-size semi rig that was outfitted for its AMA Supercross team prior to the 2011 season. The eye-catching purple and yellow team hauler will travel to nine rounds – all eight East Region Lites rounds and the Las Vegas final – and will be an attraction with the team’s fan-friendly activities.
