Red Bull Named Title Sponsor for Lake Elsinore
Lone SoCal Stop is Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship Season Finale
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, has hit the home stretch and today, MX Sports Pro Racing and Alli Sports, a division of NBC Sports, announce that Red Bull will serve as the title sponsor for the inaugural Lake Elsinore National, on September 8, officially titled the Red Bull Lake Elsinore National.
The brand new, state-of-the-art Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park will host the world's best riders for the final round of the summer, signifying the Nationals' one and only stop in the motocross hotbed of Southern California.
"It's great to see Red Bull step up and sponsor the newest race on the motocross schedule," said newly-crowned 450 Class Champion and Red Bull KTM rider Ryan Dungey. "We're all looking forward to seeing what Lake Elsinore has to offer and obviously returning to Southern California is a big deal for not just the fans, but the teams and riders as well."As a first-year Red Bull athlete, it's been awesome to be a part of everything they do and I understand first hand why they are such a big deal all over the world. They pull out all the stops when it comes to supporting their athletes and their events, so I'm sure our first race at Elsinore will be one to remember."
Dungey secured his second 450 Class crown in three seasons last Saturday at the Red Bull Unadilla National, but with captivating title fights unfolding in both the 250 and WMX Classes, champions are sure to be crowned in front of the thousands of fans expected to be in attendance. A full slate of racing kicks off at 1 p.m. Pacific, with live television coverage of the first 450 and 250 Class motos on FUEL TV and online at AlliSports.com.
The 2012 season was the first for Red Bull as a premier supporter of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. In addition to its support of the entire Red Bull KTM team, which features former world champions Marvin Musquin and Ken Roczen along with Dungey, Team Yoshimura Suzuki's James Stewart, and Team Honda's Ashley Fiolek, the reigning WMX Class Champion, Red Bull also served as the title sponsor of the Budds Creek National in June, the RedBud National in July, and last weekend's Unadilla National, each of which featured live coverage on NBC.
"Red Bull has been a tremendous addition to the Nationals this summer," said MX Sports President Davey Coombs. "Their logo and their presence are iconic and this season was the first of what will be a long relationship with the brand. Finishing off the summer as title sponsor of the championship's Southern California homecoming is a fitting ending to their new commitment to the sport."
Countless man hours have gone in to developing the newest venue in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship since Lake Elsinore was announced as the final round of the 2012 season back in January. The finishing touches are currently being put in place before the fastest riders on the planet take to the track for the first time in just a couple weeks. Fans and riders alike will enjoy multiple elevation changes, spectacular obstacles, lush landscapes, and easy access. Ample sight lines will provide incredible viewing from virtually any point on the track.
On-track activities for the inaugural Red Bull Lake Elsinore National kick off on Saturday, September 8, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Pacific with practice and qualifying. Opening ceremonies commence at 12:30 p.m. Pacific, with the first gate drop scheduled for 1 p.m. Pacific.
