Bet The Ranch On Yamaha As Its Riders Came Up Big At Loretta Lynn’s Motocross

Cypress, CA, – The 31st Annual Red Bull AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship concluded this past Saturday after a week of exciting racing at Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN. Yamaha riders came up big, winning 11 national championships, while also notching 28 moto victories and 11 additional podiums to surpass all other manufacturers who competed at the event.

Headlining the action at America’s most prestigious amateur motocross event were Cooper Webb, who won the 250B Stock title and finished second in 250B Mod on his Star Valli-prepared Yamaha YZ250F, and Justin Hoeft, who won five out of six motos to earn championships in both the 85cc Sr. (12-14) Stock and Modified classes on his Yamaha YZ85.

Hot and humid conditions all week made racing the three required motos a challenge for every rider. But the Yamaha racers prevailed, with other highlights including a 450B Mod title for Anthony Rodriguez aboard his Joe Gibbs Racing-supported Yamaha YZ450F. Rodriguez is the first Venezuelan to earn a Loretta Lynn’s championship. In addition, fan favorite and Yamaha icon Doug Dubach swept both the 40+ and 45+ classes on his YZ450F, while Robbie Reynard earned the 35+ title and finished third in the 25+ class aboard his YZ450F. Robbie was also named the AMA’s Veteran Rider of the Year.

Yamaha riders won additional championships for bikes from 50cc all the way up to 450cc. Braxton Brown won the 51cc Stock Shaft Drive class on his Yamaha PW50, 10-year-old Jazzmyn Canfield swept all three of her motos to take the Girls (9-11) title on her Yamaha YZ85, Taylor Higgins took the Women (14+) class on her YZ125, and Gregory Gehrer won the College B/C (16-24) division on his YZ450F.

Yamaha podium finishers included Vance & Hines/Yamaha’s Paul Coates (450B Mod), Ryan Surratt (Schoolboy 1), Sean Cunningham (Two-Stroke), Kaitlyn Morrow (Girls 12-15), Kennedy Lutz (Girls 12-15), Rock River Powersports/Yamaha’s Mackenzie Tricker and Marrissa Markelon (Women), and Jude Kozel and Levi Bolton (51cc Shaft Drive).

“Yamaha riders turned the podium blue last week,” commented Donnie Luce, Yamaha’s amateur motocross coordinator. “Riding everything from PW50s to YZ450Fs, these special amateur motocrossers represented Yamaha so well, and I couldn’t be more proud of each and every one of them.”

New this year from Yamaha Racing is the Loretta Lynn’s Cup, a huge trophy that features more than 208 Yamaha Class Champions over the 30 year history of the Amateur National Motocross Championship. Based on the overwhelming success of its riders at last week’s event, 9 more amateur motocrossers’ names will be added to the prestigious trophy.
