Bel-Ray Racing Weekend Preview

Racing is an integral part of Bel-Ray’s success. The professional racing teams and racers supported by Bel-Ray help develop and test new and existing products to be sure the highest quality lubricants are available to the consumer. This weekend Bel-Ray has athletes competing in professional competition in the Czech Republic, Russia and the United States.

WSBK

The World Superbike Championship Series continues this weekend in the Czech Republic at the Brno Circuit. Bel-Ray sponsored Team Althea Ducati’s racers Carlos Checa and Davide Giugliano come into round 9 of the series 4th and 9th place respectively in the overall series standings.  Both racers are fond of this track and have experienced success there in the past. Checa spoke about the race ahead and the remaining round in the series. “I like this track actually, despite the long straightway! Last season brought me my best Brno SBK result so far; the double podium finish gave me solid points at an important stage of the championship. I definitely need a points boost now, and hope that conditions allow us to make two strong races on Sunday. We’re now into the second half of the championship and competition will be tough but we’re ready to fight.”

Giugliano was second at the Brno circuit last year in the Stock 1000 class and looks forward to this upcoming weekend and the remainder of the season ahead. “My best Brno experience to date came last year when I finished the Stock 1000 race in second place, I’m only sorry that I missed out on the win by so little! This year in Superbike I am continuing to work hard, gain experience and grow race by race. Everyone knows that this track isn’t the easiest for the Ducati but you can be sure that I’ll be fighting hard to take as many points as possible as I try to improve my position in the standings.”

World Motocross

The 2012 World Grand Prix Motocross Championship series continues this weekend in Semigorje for the GP of Russia. It marks the first time since 2002 that the circuit has travelled to Russia and the local fans are ready for great racing action.

MX1

Coming to Russia after a disappointing weekend in Latvia, the Bel-Ray backed CP377 Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit team is looking for redemption and excellent finishes. Currently third place in the series standings, Christophe Pourcel is looking to regain the form that saw him take 15 top 5 moto finishes so far this season. His uncharacteristic 9-12 moto scores in Latvia put a damper on his chase for the World Championship  but a strong race this weekend could put him right back into the hunt. He is 36 points away from the leader with 6 rounds remaining in the series. Teammate Sebastein Pourcel also struggled in Latvia with 11-17 moto finishes. His strong finish the previous week in Sweden is still fresh on his mind and should give him motivation for a top result in Russia.

MX2

Despite a disastrous double DNF Bel-Ray backed Team Floride Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit racer Tommy Searle with positive thoughts and championship dreams. With 6 rounds remaining in the series, Searle is second place 41 points away from the lead. Moto wins will be necessary to claim the championship, a task that is certainly attainable by the young Englishman. Searle has won 7 motos already this season and hopes that 8 and 9 are accomplished this weekend. Teammate Joel Roelants comes to Russia following his first ever MXGP overall victory last weekend in Latvia. Roelants has had an up and down season and last week certainly represented the up side. Currently fourth place in the series, Roelants, has proven himself to be a top competitor in the series and looks to continue his results this weekend.

AMA National Motocross

The 2012 AMA National Motocross series continues this weekend in the beautiful Pacific Northwest at Washougal Motocross Park in Washougal, Washington. This weekend will represent the 8th round of the series and is the 32nd Washougal MX National.

Bel-Ray’s teams and Elite racers are scheduled compete in Saturday’s event. Andrew Short has been a consistent top 5 finisher all season and looks to improve on that as the series hits the Northwest. Coming off top 10 moto finish in Millville, Elite racer Derek Anderson hopes to continue that again this weekend. Anderson and fellow Bel-Ray Elite racer Tucker Saye have been chronicling their summer in the popular web series “Driven to Ride” on You Tube. The series shows the behind the scenes life of a privateer and their struggles to compete the national championship series. In the 250 class, Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki is looking for a podium finish from their racers, Jason Anderson, Blake Wharton and Hunter Hewitt, this weekend. Wharton was close last weekend with a 5th overall finish. Good starts and consistent lap time will be essential to success in this highly competitive class. Current WMX point’s leader Jessica Patterson hopes to keep her championship point lead in tact despite surgery less than 2 weeks ago to repair a broken hand. She showed her strength and determination in Michigan 2 weeks ago by racing with the injury in a gutsy performance to salvage points and retain her lead. She now holds a 9 point advantage with 4 rounds remaining.
