  • MSR's Windham Podiums in Daytona

Corona, Ca- Kevin Windham has been on quite a roll during this extremely competitive SX season. K-Dub just recently hit a milestone 200th SX main event and now just two weeks later he captures his first podium of the season with a 3rd in Daytona.

Windham was carrying some momentum from last weeks 4th in St.louis, as the series headed to the famous Daytona International Speedway. Mother nature would definitely play a role in Saturdays race as qualifying was shortened to just one session.  K-dub threw down a low 1:24 lap time and ended up qualifying second for the night. As the gate dropped on the 2nd heat race, Windham grabbed a huge Holeshot and completely dominated the race with a 24 second lead at the end of eight laps. The night was looking good for Kevin as the main event approached.

Before the main event the AMA had decided to shorten the usual 20 lap main down to 16, as the track was deteriorating throughout the night. At the start of the main, Windham squeaked around the inside of the first turn and came out in 3rd. He would battle with JGR riders Stewart and Millsaps during the first half of the race while relentlessly getting hammered with mud when he decided to back it down a notch and bring home first podium finish of the year. "I've always raced well in the mud and that was certainly the case again tonight. We've been close several times and it feels good to punch one through," stated Windham after the race.

Kevin Windham now sits in 4th overall in the points heading into this weekends Indianapolis round. Be sure to follow our social media sites for all MSR news and updates.
