FARMINGDALE, NJ – Bel-Ray Company, Inc.  – The 2012 Monster Energy Supercross season began on Saturday night, January 7th in Anaheim, California. For the 2012 season, Bel-Ray is the lubricant of choice for TwoTwo Motorsports/Bel-Ray Racing, Dodge Motorsports/Hart & Huntington/Sycuan Casino/Bel- Ray Racing and Team Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki, as well as several privateers competing each weekend.

TwoTwo Motorsports/Bel-Ray Racing's Chad Reed started the 2012 season off with a bang, taking a convincing win in his first heat of the year. After a top 3 start in the main event Reed worked his way into second, and settled in, turning consistent lap times during the 20 lap main event. Reed held between a 7 and 10 second lead over third place. A small tip over in a corner near the end of the main event closed Reed's gap, allowing third place rider, Ryan Dungey, to challenge the position. Reed held off Dungey for a second place finish on the podium, and an excellent start for the 2012 season.

For 2012 the Dodge Motorsports/Hart & Huntington/Sycuan Casino/Bel-Ray Racing team expanded from 2 riders to 4, all with an excellent chance for Supercross success. Josh Hill and Josh Hansen were both in heat 1. Hill’s heat began with a rough start as he went down in the first turn after colliding with another rider. Meanwhile, Hansen turned in a consistent race finishing 7th, with a direct transfer to the main event.

Teammates Ivan Tedesco and Kyle Partridge competed in the 2nd heat. Tedesco got a good jump on the field, and entered the first turn near the front. Tedesco finished the heat in 5th place qualifying him for the main event. Partridge however suffered from a poor start and failed to secure a qualifying position.  As a result, both Hill and Partridge lined up for the Last Chance Qualifier, but Hill was in too much pain from his crash to continue. He retired for the evening and hopes to be fit for action on Saturday night in Phoenix, AZ. Partridge got a great start in the LCQ and held a lead for a few laps of the heat, before falling in a corner. Unable to recover from the fall Partridge failed to qualify for the main event.

The main event saw Tedesco make an early push for 3rd place. Unfortunately Tedesco's pace fell leaving him in 5th place before an unfortunate crash. Tedesco made every effort to recover lost time ultimately finishing in 11th place. Teammate Hansen got off to a poor start, but was able to rally up the field for an impressive 10th place finish.

Bel-Ray's newest addition, Team Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki, showed promising results in the first race of the season. Teammates Martin Davolos and Jason Anderson both raced in heat 2. Davalos raced an excellent heat, finishing in 1st! Anderson also managed to qualify with a 7th place finish in the heat. During the main event both riders suffered a poor start. Together they were able to make their way up to the top 10, before Davalos began to suffer bike problems forcing him to retire. Anderson was able keep his foothold and finished the race in 7th place.

All of Bel-Ray’s teams will be in action when the series continues this Saturday night in Phoenix,  Arizona.
