Third Annual Ricky Carmichael Daytona
Amateur Supercross Championship Returns With Two-Day Racing Format

Morgantown, W.Va. - MX Sports is pleased to announce the return of the third annual Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross Championship (RCSX) to the legendary Daytona International Speedway, following Saturday's Daytona Supercross event. For the first time ever, RCSX has expanded to a two-day racing format, taking place Sunday, March 11 and Monday, March 12, 2012.

"We are thrilled to be back on the storied grounds of Daytona for the third year in a row," says Tim Cotter, director of MX Sports. "Each year we learn a little bit more and that's why we've decided to expand the racing program to a two-day format, something that's never been done before. Amateur racers are a dedicated group and we're committed to giving them a quality event with the utmost track time."

Amateur racers once again have the unprecedented opportunity to compete on one of the most prestigious motorsports grounds in the world only one day after the fastest professionals in the world. With over 800 entries last year, RCSX has expanded to two full days of amateur racing-featuring longer races and practices with more class options to give racers even more track-time over the course of the weekend. Due to the expansion of racing, Ricky Carmichael University will not take place in Daytona this year.

"There is no other racing facility in the world like Daytona International Speedway," said 15-Time Champion, Ricky Carmichael. "I'm excited to be back at my racing home for another year of RCSX. Two days of racing is going to give amateur racers even more seat time on the Daytona Supercross track and I'm looking forward to watching some good racing!"
MX Sports organizes the event by utilizing over 30 years of experience operating the Red Bull AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn Ranch. The class structure includes classes for youth riders on 50cc bikes all the way up to vet and senior classes. The race will follow a supercross format, using heat races and last chance qualifiers to seed the field of riders into a main event in each class, over the course of two days. Unlike the Loretta Lynn Ranch format, riders do not need to qualify at other races in order to participate in the Daytona event.

Amateur riders and their families are encouraged to come down early and camp on the Daytona infield, where hookups are available. Move in, sign up and camping begin on Saturday, March 11, so amateur families can watch the pros compete on Saturday night in the Daytona Supercross. Amateur racing takes place on Sunday, March 11 and Monday, March 12. Although Ricky Carmichael University is not taking place in conjunction with RCSX this year, riders should standby for details on where and when RCU will take place in the future.
