Metal Mulisha founder and 2010 Lucas Oil Driver of the year, “The General” Brian Deegan, continued to dominate this past weekend at the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, taking home two wins and expanding his lead for the championship.
In Saturday’s Pro Lite Unlimited race, Brian continued his streak with his third straight win, and series-leading eighth of the season. He ran second in the first lap, and was able to steal the lead from RJ Anderson in lap three and maintain it through the finish in his #38 Lucas Oil/Rockstar Energy/Metal Mulisha/Ford.
Brian started off strong once again in Saturday’s Pro 2 Unlimited race, running second in the first lap in his #38 Rockstar/Metal Mulisha/Makita/Ford, and ultimately finishing in third after an extremely close race.
In Sunday’s Pro Lite Unlimited, Brian barreled through the track, maintaining a comfortable lead from the start. In his ninth win of the season, he was able to shut out the competition with his flawless driving throughout the final lap. Brian swept the entire weekend in Pro Lite, giving him the lead heading into the Championship rounds, and even further expanding it, giving him 659 points, a six-point edge over second-place driver Chris Brandt.
In the Pro 2 Unlimited race on Sunday, Brian drove a strategic race, in line with his overall plan to win the championship in his Pro 2 rookie year. Finishing in the top 5, Brian maintained a comfortable overall lead with 632 points, 34 points ahead of defending champion Rob MacCachren.
