MXHeaven Race Report: Unadilla
And it was Calle who did one of his best starts this year in 21st place and despite an off course excursion where he dropped quite a few places, he put on a charge and re-passed several riders and ended up a strong 16th place, for five points, his best so far.
Fredrik Noren was equally quick, but had more ground to make up after an mediocre start and a couple of falls, one of which where the bike continued by itself on two wheels for a while with Fredrik giving chase on foot. In the end he had to settle for 20th place and one valuable point
For the second moto the roles were reversed with Calle ending up at the back end of the field on the first lap. He struggled and could only make it to 23rd at the end. But it was Fredriks turn, from about 20th on the first lap, to put a charge which saw him advance to 17th. But with several more riders in his sights, his ride came to an end when he smashed his radiator in one of the deep berms and with coolant steaming out he had no choice but to park his bike 3 laps from the end.
“I was really happy to be back and feeling strong again” said Calle Aspegren after the race. “We both feel better and stronger after the summer break, training at MXHeaven. Now we need to go back and work on our consistency, so we can start earning points in both motos in order to accomplish our goal, a top 20 overall position in the 2011 US Nationals.”
