CORONA, Calif. - The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team will look to keep its win streak alive as the AMA Motocross Championship series heads into the second half of the season at Spring Creek MX in MIllville, Minn. The completion of six races and 12 motos saw a Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider on top of the podium after every checkered flag and Dean Wilson, Blake Baggett, Tyla Rattray, and Broc Tickle look to keep the streak going this weekend.
Coming off his first back-to-back overall victories, Baggett will try to add to his two-race win streak. Already this season, Baggett has earned a series-high four overall wins and seven moto wins. Although he’s never been to the track as a professional, Baggett has competed at the Spring Creek MX track before as an amateur.
“It will be nice to race at a race track that I’m familiar with for once,” said Baggett. “The first half of the season, I had only been to a couple of the tracks so I was learning them when I showed up Saturday. I still did well and I hope that knowing this track before I get there will give me more confidence.”
Wilson’s consistency through the first half of the season has helped put him out front in the championship standings. In the first six races, Wilson was only off the podium once when he finished fourth at High Point.
“It’s been a good season so far and I really want to keep it going,” said Wilson. “It would be great to get a win, but I’ll take the consistency right now and hopefully I can keep adding more points this weekend.”
Last year at Spring Creek MX, Rattray made it to the podium aboard his Pro Circuit-backed Kawasaki KX250F. This year he looks to score an overall higher than his 2010 finish of third overall and has shown he is capable with two overall wins to his credit this season.
“I don’t think I rode that great last year and I think that I could do better this year,” said Rattray. “I like the track and the fans are great out there. It will be good to start the second half of the season and getting back into the points battle.”
Earning another good finish at the last round, Tickle looks to take the confidence he’s gained into the track at Spring Creek. Already this season he has shown he can run up front and with six rounds left, Tickle has his eyes on an overall podium.
“I know I have the speed to be up there,” said Tickle. “I just have to put together two good motos. If I do good in one moto, I seem to get a bad start or go down in another. It would be great to start the second half of the season with a podium and have it all come together for the remainder of the season.”
The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team will make their way north to Millville, Minn. at Spring Creek MX for the seventh stop of the AMA Motocross Championship. Wilson leads the 250cc class with 258 points, while Baggett moved into second at Round 6 with 244 points. Rattray is close behind in third with 242, while Tickle continued to move up the standings with 143 points in sixth.
