Bel-Ray and Reed Look for Victory #2 in Texas
May 27, 2011 9:30am
The 2011 AMA Pro Motocross Championship Series continues this Memorial Day weekend with the second round of the series taking place this Saturday at Freestone Raceway in Wortham, Texas.
TwoTwo Motorsports / Bel-Ray Racing’s Chad Reed started his assault on the 2011 AMA National Motocross Title with a victory at the first round in the series held last weekend in Sacramento, California. Reed’s excellent performance in round one despite limited outdoor testing time is an indication of how fast he will be this season. With an extra week of testing, the Honda CRF450 will be even better matched to keep up the pace.
Reed’s 2-1 moto scores gave him 47 points and a tie for the lead in the season points standings with series rival, Ryan Dungey. Reed was the 2009 series champion and if his performance at round one is any indication, he is a favorite to win the championship this season.
Texas is famous for high temperatures and an unforgiving track, both which play into Reed’s strengths.
