TLD Closes SX Season on Podium

It's been an incredible supercross season and the Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda team ended it on a high note. At one point it looked as though Cole Seely might win the Las Vegas main event but a crash would end those hopes. He would rebound strong to finish second in the Dave Coombs Sr. memorial Shootout.
The different schedule in Las Vegas gave the race a very different vibe. There were no heat races to set up the nights racing; it was straight to main events! Cole Seely started in second position and held it for much of the race. The leader, Ken Roczen, crashed near the halfway point and handed the lead to Seely. It was Coles race to lose and, unfortunately, he crashed. The spill allowed several riders to close in and eventually work their way past. Seely would end the race in fifth while teammate Travis Baker ended the race in eighth.
The shootout was up next and it is always a competitive race with the best from the east and the west going head to head. Seely would get off to another great start and settle into second position early. This time he would not give up the spot and when the ten lap sprint was over he finished in the runner up position. Baker followed up his teammate in ninth position.
Its been a great series for the Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda team. Since it's inception as a SX/MX race team has gone from regular top ten finishes in 2008, top five finishes in 2009, top three finishes in 2010 and this year the team scored it's first two wins. The future looks bright for Troy Lee Designs and the many amazing sponsors supporting the effort.
But before we can look ahead to 2012 super cross title hopes we have a summer of motocross to attend to. Look for Seely, Baker, Craig and Tarah Geiger at a national motocross event near you!
