MAKITA GEARS UP FOR SUPERCROSS SHOWDOWN IN LAS VEGAS Rider appearances, giveaways and more lead up to final race of 2011 SX season

La Mirada, CA – Makita Industrial Power Tools is gearing up for a week of race-themed giveaways, rider appearances, autograph signings, and more in advance of the AMA Supercross Championship on May 7 at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas.
Makita’s week in Las Vegas will be highlighted by the 53-ft. Experience More Rig, which will be on- site at a Las Vegas Home Depot on May 5 and in the pits area at Sam Boyd Stadium on race day, May 7.

Dungey in the Hunt for 2011 SX Championship
The 2011 AMA Supercross Championship has captured the attention of fans across the US with a back- and-forth battle between the world’s top riders. With just two rounds of racing to go, there are four riders within nine points of the top of the standings. Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey (above), the defending Supercross Champion, stands third in championship points, one point out of second and seven points out of first. Many believe the championship will be decided at the season’s final event on May 7 at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, and Makita will be engaging local supercross fans all week as they anticipate a title showdown in Las Vegas.

“In every race, Rockstar Makita Suzuki Racing charges hard for the podium and Ryan Dungey best exemplifies the talent and commitment of the entire team,” said Brent Withey, Brand Director for Makita USA. “We’re looking forward to a great week in Las Vegas as we meet the fans and watch Ryan race for the 2011 Supercross title.”

Store Events and Race-Themed Giveaways
Makita is holding a series of in-store events for Las Vegas supercross fans prior to the race. On May 5 at The Home Depot store on S. Decatur Blvd., Makita and the 53-ft. Experience More rig will be on hand with rider appearances including Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey from 5 - 7 p.m. Rockstar Makita LeDuc Racing, currently competing in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, will also be there with their 900HP race trucks. Race fans will also enjoy samples from Rockstar Energy, free food from local favorite Tacos El Compita, drawings for race tickets and autographed jerseys, and hands-on demonstrations of the very latest from Makita. Makita and the Experience More rig will also be in the pits area at Sam Boyd Stadium on race day, May 7, to engage the fans before the gate drops on the 2011 season finale.

Makita’s Experience More
Makita’s pre-race and race day presence in Las Vegas will be highlighted at select events by its 53-foot Experience More trailer. Makita’s Experience More is an interactive tool display on wheels, delivering a dynamic hands-on experience with tool demo stations, engineering exhibits, touch screen displays with interactive video, and plasma screens throughout the trailer with high-energy video and audio footage. The trailer is fully stocked with the Makita’s latest industrial quality power tools, including the complete LXT Series of cordless tools featuring Makita’s breakthrough 18V Lithium-Ion battery technology.
Makita’s Accelerated Presence in Racing and Action Sports

The partnership with Rockstar and Suzuki is the latest in Makita’s growing presence in racing and action sports, both as a sponsor and as a power tool of choice in the pits. Makita and Suzuki’s long term partnership has yielded over 20 championships in Supercross, Motocross, Superbike, ATV, and Amateur – including Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey’s historic 2010 championship run in Supercross and Motocross.
