FLY Racing’s Baylor Wins XC2 Class at Big Buck GNCC
April 12, 2011, 6:40pm
Round four of the Grand National Cross Series took place in Union, South Carolina this past weekend for the Pirelli Big Buck GNCC. FLY riders were consistently at the front of the pack, taking home four podium finishes and a pro class win.
In the ultra competitive XC2 Lites class, FLY Racing’s offroad phenom Steward Baylor battled a rough track and a mid-race pit stop to remove a broken knee brace to take his second win of the year as well as control of the overall points lead. Even more impressive, at just 16 years old, Baylor finished 7th overall, well ahead of many of the XC1 riders.
Rounding out the podium for FLY Racing in the XC2 class was Team F.A.R. Husqvarna’s Jason Thomas in third. New FLY recruit Brad Bakken also had a strong ride, finishing 6th on the day. In XC1 competition, Team Beta Factory rider Chris Bach finished 8th, while Simo Kirssi placed 13th. The younger of the two Baylor brothers, Grant raced to a 2nd place finish in the 250 A class, while Chris Douglas grabbed second in the Open A class.
