Bel-Ray Race Report – St. Louis Supercross Preview
April 8, 2011 10:10am
Round 14 of the Monster Energy Supercross series heads into St. Louis, MO this weekend and Two Two Motorsports / Bel-Ray Racing’s Chad Reed sits in second place in the standings, just 6 points out of the top spot. Dodge Motorsports / Hart and Huntington / Bel-Ray teammates, Ivan Tedesco and Chris Blose, are both within the top 15 in points as well, - with Tedesco in 10th and Blose in 14th.
Coming into last weekend’s event in Dallas, Reed held the points lead, but a collision with series rival, James Stewart, put the Honda-mounted Reed over a steep berm and onto to the concrete stadium floor. Reed returned to the race with a bent bike and a bruised body, but the former champion showed grit and determination to salvage 9th place points. Reed, who was in second place at the time of the incident, has recently shown the speed and consistency necessary to win the championship this season. With only 4 rounds left, the title chase will certainly go down to an exciting final event in Las Vegas on May 7th.
Reed has a history of excellent finishes in St. Louis. He was the winner of the premier class in 2009, 2006, 2004, and 2003 and the winner of the Lites Main Event in 2002.
Both Tedesco and Blose have been struggling in recent weeks with nagging injuries, but both riders have shown the guts required to be a top Supercross racer. Blose and Tedesco were 17th and 18th in Dallas. Both riders are 2 of only 10 racers to make every main event this season.
The event will be televised on Sunday afternoon at 12p.m. EST on CBS.
Another great weekend of racing awaits team Bel-Ray next week. Watch www.belray.com for results and race reports all season long.
