March 29, 2011, 4:40pm
CONROE, Texas – 3 Palms Sports Park located 30 miles north of downtown Houston will be hosting a motocross race that only Three Palms could accommodate. 3 moto format on 3 different tracks at one amazing facility over two days. April 16th and 17th riders will converge from all over the region with the hopes of becoming the Spring Break Champion. For those that arrive on Friday April 15th, they will be able to practice on all three tracks throughout the day; The Royal Purple Extreme Track, The Scion GP Track and the River Track. The race action will start with first moto’s on the River Track Saturday morning April 16, then moving to the Royal Purple Extreme Track by mid afternoon for all the second moto’s. Sunday morning April 17th, will be the conclusion of the program with the start of all the 3rd moto’s on the Scion GP Track. As a bonus, while the races are taking place on one of the tracks in the park, a rider can practice on one of the other tracks in the park! The pro’s will have a $5,000 purse up for grabs, while the amateurs will be competing for $3,000 worth of gift cards in select classes and special awards up to 5th place!
Each of the 3 featured tracks have there own starting line and all offer a little different personality. The River Track is a favorite of many and offers a good sand mix with some epic bowl turns and a fun rolling whoop section along with its signature gap double. The Royal Purple Extreme Track was the first track built at 3 Palms, and has a mix of step up’s/step down’s and develops some great inside ruts and ends at its signature table top finish line. Finally the Scion GP Track is a favorite of vet riders because of its fast flowing GP style design and while all the dirt is prepped to perfection on all the tracks at 3 Palms, the Scion GP Track dirt is know as “brownies” after a fresh prep.
“I have always wanted to do something that no other track can offer, and I don’t think a rider can get this much racing done on these many tracks in two days anywhere else” says 3 Palms owner and operator Emil Shebelbon. Race announcer and Parts Unlimited rep Larry Hughes added, “I am really glad to be part of this unique event where riders can race on a track, then after their moto go jump on one of the other tracks for practice. There won’t be a lot of waiting around for your next moto at the Spring Break Classic!”
Come find out why riders like Ryan Dungey and Trey Canard spent their summers at 3 Palms training before their pro careers started. For a complete list of classes or more info, please visit the 3 Palms website at, www.3palmsesp.com, or call the track hotline at, 936.321.8725.
