Hibbert to Make First Snocross Appearance at Michigan's Silverdome
Monster Energy/Arctic Cat’s Tucker Hibbert will make his first snocross appearance at Pontiac, Michigan’s Silverdome Saturday for round five of the AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series. Hibbert is no stranger to the Silverdome. The ten-time ESPN Winter X Games medalist and current FIM Snowcross World Champion competed in AMA Supercross events at the venue in 2004 and 2005.
Hibbert’s been on a tear this winter winning seven of the eight pro finals and his fifth-consecutive gold medal at Winter X Games. He’s currently leading the Pro Open point championship and is tied for the lead in the Pro Super Stock class.
The Michigan National will be the only indoor snocross event of the season and because it’s an indoor course, riders will not be allowed to use studs (additional traction products) on their snowmobile’s track. Hibbert gained valuable experience racing at the World Championship in Sweden last spring without a studded track and is known for his masterful throttle control, which is key when riding without traction products.
Pro racing action begins Saturday afternoon at the Silverdome with qualifying at 3 p.m. and opening ceremonies at 7 p.m. For a detailed schedule, visit www.isocracing.com. If you can’t make it to the race, make sure to watch the one-hour broadcast on VERSUS Sunday, March 13 at 3 p.m. ET.

“I can’t wait for the race in Pontiac on Saturday. I had a sub par race in New York last weekend and am looking forward to getting back on my ‘A’ game. The last time I raced at the Silverdome was on a dirt bike in 2005. Now I get to race snowmobiles there. It’s a pretty unique position to race both sports at the same venue.
I’m anxious to see how a snocross track fits inside the Silverdome and how my competitors adapt to riding without studs. Luckily, I gained valuable experience testing for and riding at the World Championship in Sweden last spring without a studded track. I learned quick it takes better throttle control and that you have to use your body weight differently. It should be an exciting race!”
