  • Yoshimura R&D Of America Steps Up 2011 Supercross Support
CHINO, CA – Yoshimura R&D of America is proud to announce their continued support of the 2011 Honda Racing and Rockstar Makita Suzuki supercross and motocross teams in their campaigns in the 2011 AMA Supercross and Motocross championships. Yoshimura is also stepping it up to support the four-rider Rockstar Energy Suzuki team in the Supercross Lites class. All three teams will have Yoshimura’s championship-proven RS-4 and the all-new RS-4D performance exhaust systems at their disposal, as well as a number of other Yoshimura performance hard parts and engine performance systems.

Yoshimura is proud to continue their support of the Honda Racing team for a sixth consecutive year. For 2011, American Honda has signed Trey Canard and Josh Grant to the Honda Racing team to contest both the AMA Supercross Championship and AMA Motocross Championship aboard Yoshimura-equipped Honda CRF450R race machines. Both riders have shown huge potential in the 450 class, with Canard scoring a number of podiums last year and Grant winning in the class back in 2009. For 37 years, Honda has amassed an unparalleled record in AMA Supercross and Motocross, winning more championships than any other manufacturer; they look forward to the 2011 season adding to that record.

2011 marks only the second year of support of the Rockstar Makita SX and MX team and if the first year is any indication, they should be the team to watch. The drop of the gate on the 2011 AMA Supercross Championship season is less than a week away and Team Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey is ready to pick up where he left off in order to defend his 2010 title. The 2011 season includes what many are calling the deepest, most competitive fields in AMA Supercross history, with no less than a half a dozen riders having a legitimate chance to top the podium. Ryan and his Yoshimura-equipped 2011 Suzuki RM-Z450 will be joined by new teammate, Brett Metcalfe. Metcalfe came to Suzuki after a strong outdoor season himself, scoring second only to Dungey. Dungey’s 2010 season was historic, with the 21 year old becoming the first rookie to win both the AMA Supercross Championship and the AMA 450 Motocross Championship in the same season. Yoshimura has stepped up their involvement and support with the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team for 2011 and are looking forward to a great year.

Yoshimura is also proud to announce their support of the 2011 Rockstar Energy Suzuki team. The four-rider team includes returning rider, Ryan Morais, and Martin Davalos competing aboard their Yoshimura-equipped Suzuki RM-Z250’s in the West Coast Lites class and rookies, Ian Trettle and Jason Anderson, in the East. All four Rockstar Energy Suzuki riders will be running Yoshimura R&D’s all-new, dual-outlet RS-4D exhaust system, as well as a full complement of Yoshimura performance hard parts and engine services.

“We are excited to be able to partner with such great race teams in the supercross and motocross disciplines,” said Yoshimura R&D Senior Vice President, Don Sakakura. “Racing runs deep in the heritage of Yoshimura and we’re quite happy to be able to compete at such a high level in this sport. We’ve had great success in AMA Superbike over the last decade and we’d like to carry that success to our involvement in our supercross and motocross programs. Racing and R&D have become important ingredients in developing the best in quality, highest-performance products we can provide our customers.”
