  • Broc Glover to Receive Edison Dye Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Motocross legend Broc Glover has been chosen to receive the Edison Dye Award for his outstanding contributions and achievements.
  • Glover will also be added to the Glen Helen Walk of Fame, including the addition of a granite plaque including his name and the year of his induction.
  • The award ceremony will begin at 12:30 on Sunday, November 7th during the MTA World Vet Championship at Glen Helen Raceway.

San Bernardino, Calif. -Six-time AMA National Champion and AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Broc "Golden Boy" Glover will be awarded the Edison Dye Lifetime Achievement Award in a special ceremony on Sunday, November 7th during the MTA World Vet Championship races at Glen Helen Raceway. This special recognition is given only to those who have made great contributions to the world of motocross racing, and is one of the most prestigious awards a racer can receive. Glover will be the 14th recipient of the Edison Dye Award, placing him among other legendary riders like Roger DeCoster, Gary Jones, Jeff Ward and Bob Hannah just to name a few.

Broc Glover's career began to take off in 1977, when the young racer signed with Yamaha. Glover claimed his first 125cc title that season, and went on to take two more 125cc titles in 1978 and 1979. Broc then made the move to the 500cc class where he would take three more titles in 1981, 1983 and 1985. Glover was also a member of the winning Motocross and Trophee des Nations teams in 1983 and the Trophee des Nations team in 1984. When he retired in 1988, Glover held the AMA all-time wins record in both the 125cc and 500cc classes.

In addition to the Edison Dye Award, Glover will also be added to the Glen Helen Raceway Walk of Fame. A plaque with Glover's name and the year of his induction will be placed along the walk to commemorate his achievements and contributions to the sport.

A history of the trophy, and a basic "How Motocross came to the United States" primer can be seen in this two part video interview of Gary Jones and Tom White:
