MX Race Report: Unadilla

Chad Reed came into Unadilla with a massive points lead but in typical Reedy fashion, he was not satisfied yet. Reed grabbed a top 5 start in Moto 1 and made quick work of the field in front of him to grab the lead. Scott gear rider Tommy Hahn also had a good start in the first moto and was able to move through the pack to get into second place. Reed was too far gone for Tommy to make a run at him but Hahn rode to solidly and secured second place. Scott athlete Andrew Short returned to form this week after fighting some health issues and rode to 5th place in Moto 1.
In Moto 2, Shorty grabbed the holeshot with Reedy sitting in about 4th. Reedy again moved into the lead on lap 5 and checked out. Shorty was able to hold on to 2nd, while Tommy Hahn had a small bike issue and was forced to head back to the pits. Red Dog, Timmy Ferry, was back in action this week and was able to finish top 10 overall while riding himself back into race shape.

In Moto 1, Monster Energy Pro Circuit’s Christophe Pourcel got a great start inside the top five and quickly overtook the leader and checked out. Jake Weimer chased Pourcel most of the race but was unable to close the gap. He was finally overtaken by Pourcel’s championship rival, Ryan Dungey, late in Moto 1.
In Moto 2, Christophe took no chances by grabbing the holeshot and disappearing on the first lap to take a very easy Moto 2 win to go 1-1 on the day. Jake Weimer rode on to third place finishes in both motos for third overall. Scott gear, boot and goggle riders PJ Larsen (10th) and Kyle Cunningham (6th) both had great days and ended up with top 10 overall finishes.
