  • Unbound Energy’s Brett Metcalfe Runs Well at Unadilla
CARLSBAD, Calif. – Unbound Energy-backed Brett Metcalfe (GEICO Powersports/Honda) put some insurance points between himself and Tommy Searle in the overall 2009 Lucas Oil AMA MX Nationals points chase for the final 250 class podium spot as Metcalfe went 4th/4th for 4th place overall on Saturday at the 40th annual Unadilla MX National in Upstate New York, increasing his lead over Searle for 3rd in the 350 class standings to 19 points, 287-268.

Also running well for the Unbound Energy-backed GEICO Powersports/Honda team was Justin Barcia, who brought his CRF250R home in 8th place with two top ten moto finishes (7th/10th). And making a run on the overall podium after finishing 5th in the first moto was Barcia’s teammate, Blake Wharton. Wharton pulled a great start in moto two and was all the way up to 3rd place after the first lap, then moved into 2nd place by lap five. But on lap six he was involved in an incident that’d put him down lap and he settled on 28th and 11th place overall.

Overall on the season Barcia’s in 6th place in the standings and Wharton’s in 8th. Not far behind is teammate Trey Canard in 12th, despite having raced only 11 of the 18 total motos.

Next up for Unbound Energy’s Metcalfe, Wharton and Barcia on the MX National circuit is the Aug. 22nd Budds Creek (Md.) MX National. Check out what’s happening with the GEICO Powersports/Honda Team – fueled by Unbound Energy – at www.unboundenergy.com
