Dew Tour Arrives in Portland

Burr Ridge, Ill. – The Dew Tour, the world’s premier season-long action sports tour, begins the third stop of the 2009 season on Thursday, August 13 at the Rose Quarter. The Dew Tour comes to Portland, Ore. for the fifth consecutive year for the Wendy’s Invitational. The five-city tour kicked off in Chicago in June, continued in Boston in July and will include stops in Salt Lake City and Orlando to end the season.

The Wendy’s Invitational will include competitions in BMX (park, vert and dirt) and skateboarding (park and vert). There will also be a freestyle motocross jam session and a Friday evening concert with hip-hop group, LMFAO. A daily Festival Village will include interactive booths, athlete autograph signings and much more.

The athlete roster includes the who’s who in action sports, highlighted by 2009 Maloof Money Cup champions Chris Cole and Alex Perelson and X Games 15 gold medalists Paul Rodriguez, Scotty Cranmer and Garrett Reynolds.

Event week kicks off with the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, featuring Dew Tour freestyle motocross athletes Adam Jones, Mike Mason and Robbie Maddison. The segment will air tonight, Tuesday, August 11th, at 11:35 p.m. EST.

Tickets for the Dew Tour’s Wendy’s Invitational are on sale now through the Rose Quarter Box Office, participating Safeway and TicketsWest locations, by calling (877) 789-ROSE, or at ComcastTIX.com.

In its fifth year, the Dew Tour is the most watched and attended action sports property in the world. Attendance for the 2008 Dew Tour totaled nearly 275,000 and an average of 49 million viewers tuned in via NBC, USA, MTV and MTV2. The top athletes in the world will take part in this year’s Tour, all competing for the highly coveted Dew Cup that will be awarded in Orlando at season’s end.

The Wendy’s Invitational will be broadcast LIVE on NBC Sports the following days and times:

Saturday, Aug. 15th               4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. EST

Sunday, Aug. 16th                 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. EST

Dew Tour

The Dew Tour consists of five major, multi-sport events spanning across the country, with a cumulative points system, a $2.5 million competitive purse based on overall tour standings. The Tour features skateboarding (park and vert), BMX (park, vert and dirt) and freestyle motocross. As part of an Alli property, key lifestyle elements compliment the competitions at each Tour event including the Festival Village, specialty competitions, and live cutting edge music.
