Keep on Track Mid-Season Laps Update
July 15, 2009, 11:23am
With this break in the action after Red Bud, I am now halfway through my quest to run (jog) a lap of every track of the 2009 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross season. I admit, it started off a lot harder than I expected on the hills of Glen Helen but after that track, I've been pretty happy with the times I’m finishing the laps in.
01. Glen Helen - 24:00.93
02. Hangtown - 11:58.25
03. Freestone - 10:52.60
04. High Point - 15:38.09
05. Thunder Valley - 16:04.53
06. Red Bud - 14:31.12
Total time: 1hr 33mins 6 seconds
Even the altitude at Thunder Valley and the magnificent Larocco’s Leap didn’t slow me down too much and with those now completed, I think the hardest tracks are probably behind me. Millville does have some pretty big hills and I’m not really looking forward to running in the sands of Southwick, but as long as the rain holds off, I’m confident of getting around at a good pace.
I’m now running the laps after the end of the final moto, so when you’re leaving the races, if you see a lonely figure jogging the Millville whoops or Gravity Cavity, feel free to shout some encouragement. And if you want to do more, log onto http://www.ayearinmx.com/09/keepontrack.html and click the ‘Donation’ link and help support the RiderDown Foundation and Wings for Life charities.
